As seen in the Examiner – Christmas Scarf Wall.
I finally finished this scarf! I don’t know why it took me so long. Perhaps, it’s because I actually had to pay attention to what I was doing.
I’m providing the pattern in case you’d like a knitting project that you can’t do while watching something interesting on TV. 
Notice that the front and back of the scarf have very different patterns. I don’t know which I like better. It’s because the patterns are so rich that I decided to use a light-colored yarn. Also, I like how the last row segments the scarf into blocks.
Yarn used: Bernat Satin (color 03010)
Needles: size 9
Cast on 28 stitches. Work the pattern below until the scarf is the length you desire.
Pattern (consists of 24 rows):
Row 1: K3, *P2, K2: repeat from *, end with P2, K3.
Row 2: Pearl the knit stitches and knit the pearl stitches. DO THIS FOR ALL EVEN ROWS, EXCEPT FOR ROW 24.
Row 3: K3, *P2, K2: repeat from *, end with P2, K3.
Row 5: K3, *P2, K2: repeat from *, end with P2, K3.
Row 7: K3, *P6, K2; repeat from *, end with P6, K3.
Row 9: K3, *P6, K2; repeat from *, end with P6, K3.
Row 11: K3, *P6, K2; repeat from *, end with P6, K3.
Row 13: K3, *P2, K2: repeat from *, end with P2, K3.
Row 15: K3, *P2, K2: repeat from *, end with P2, K3.
Row 17: K3, *P2, K2: repeat from *, end with P2, K3.
Row 19: K3, P2, *K2, P6; repeat from *, end with K2, P2, K3.
Row 21: K3, P2, *K2, P6; repeat from *, end with K2, P2, K3.
Row 23: K3, P2, *K2, P6; repeat from *, end with K2, P2, K3.
Row 24: Repeat row 23 – this is what makes the pattern blocks.

I am wondering if you mean “Knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches” on your even numbered rows. If I follow your directions I will get a seed stitch and I don’t see that in the pictures. The usual protocol is to follow the established pattern (k/k and p/p) but the pics also look like you switch stitches. Just curious

Though what you say makes sense, this pattern is counter intuitive. If you work 3 rows as directed, you’ll see the ribs form.

If I follow this pattern all the way to row 24 and bind off there how long does it end up being in length.
If I want to keep doing after row 24 do I just repeat row 24 tell I get the length or is row 24 the last thing I will do once I get the length I want?

If you follow the pattern, rows 1-24, you’ll end around the 5-inch mark, and then you will begin again at row 1. After each pattern section you begin the pattern from the beginning again. Let me know if this is still not clear. I’m happy to help.

I found your pattern by way of the daily knitter.com. I have just come back to knitting after more than 40 years. I looked at the picture then the pattern and knew that I could knit this one. I am almost done with the third repeat and am going great.
This pattern is really simple to follow and I’m pleased with the results so far.
As I read through the pattern it really made sense.
