DonnaI’m a creative gal living and working in Dallas, Texas. I’m also the mother of one very brilliant male child (naturally, I’m biased); an owner of six dear cats (my absolute limit), or is it that they own me?; a cultivator of gardens (see Voltaire’s Candide); a procrastinator; an on and off nail biter, currently off; an avid film fan; and a sometimes chef.

I’m a corporate American during the week, more accurately a marketing propagandist. On weekends, I’m any number of things, including an adjunct professor. I have a Master of Humanities in Literature and have instructed college freshmen in the art of writing. Before I acquired a Master of Arts degree (with a specialty in literature), I snared a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from a local Texas university.

I’ve been knlittle donnaown to play in boxes!

My favorite artists are Henri Matisse, Gustav Klimt, Joan Miro, Vincent Van Gogh, Jackson Pollock, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and Edward Hopper. I have many favorite authors; a partial list includes: Jane Austen, Graham Greene, Herman Melville, the Bronte Sisters, Michel Faber, George Orwell, Paulo Coehlo, and most recently Carlos Ruiz Zafon.

Classical music that moves me to tears includes Mozart’s Requiem and Beethoven’s Symphony #9. I also enjoy the work of Saint-Saens. I like a variety of contemporary musical artists.

I prefer British films to American films. British TV programs are better too. I’d be lost without BBC America and PBS. I like British actors. For the most part, they are classically trained, and I think that makes a difference. I also think British TV and film scriptwriters develop more intellectually stimulating stories; and for heaven’s sake, the Brits have Clive Owen, Kenneth Branagh, Helena Bonham Carter, Daniel Craig, Michael Caine, Judi Dench, Ralph Fiennes, Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Helen Mirren, Sean Connery, Alan Rickman, and Kate Winslet, to name just a few fine actors calling the British Isles home.
