I created my own avatar with marker and pen and then modified it in Photoshop.
I decided that I didn’t want to use an avatar someone else had created when I had the stuff to create my own. I should have done this ages ago, but you know life happens. You can create something similar by following these steps:
- Draw a perfectly square box (e.g., 2″x2″)
- Fill the box with a design using whatever media you like (marker, pen, colored pencil, watercolors, etc.)
- Scan the completed drawing and then import it into Photoshop for editing
- Apply filters, modify contrast and brightness, modify colors, etc. Get creative.
- When you have something you like, resize your image to 90×90 pixels, and then save it for web and web devices.
Easy-Peasy!

The artist is believed to be the horseman in the blue turban.
You can read more about this amazing discovery in Michelangelo’s fresco The Crucifixion of St Peter at TimesOnline.
One of the best TV shows of all time is Battlestar Galatica, now in its last season on the SciFi channel. If you’re a fan, you’ll truly appreciate this take on the Last Supper, especially when you consider the “one god” theme of the series (one of many themes). How appropriate for Six to take Christ’s position. Get a better look at the image at SciFi.
This isn’t the only tribute/caricature of Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper. You can find more here at Jeremy Barker’s site – Popped Culture.

Edible Art? Well, maybe not. You have to admire an artist who uses a medium that wouldn’t normally be thought of as art-ready. And, you also have to appreciate his skill! Learn more about Maurizio Savini at PASTIFICIOCERERE and see more of his art at Dump Trumpet. I originally found out about this artist at Slashfood.
