I created my own avatar with marker and pen and then modified it in Photoshop.

I decided that I didn’t want to use an avatar someone else had created when I had the stuff to create my own. I should have done this ages ago, but you know life happens. You can create something similar by following these steps:

  • Draw a perfectly square box (e.g., 2″x2″)
  • Fill the box with a design using whatever media you like (marker, pen, colored pencil, watercolors, etc.)
  • Scan the completed drawing and then import it into Photoshop for editing
  • Apply filters, modify contrast and brightness, modify colors, etc. Get creative.
  • When you have something you like, resize your image to 90×90 pixels, and then save it for web and web devices.

Easy-Peasy!

Have some fun! Build your wild self at The New York Zoos and Aquarium’s Build Your Wild Self.

What’s wild about me? I have Siberian tiger legs and tail and Monarch butterfly wings. I love my wild self!

The first Saturday in May is Free Comic Book Day. Today it also happens to be Cinco de Mayo. Let’s go get some Mexican food and a margarita and then head on over to the local comic book store and grab our freebie!

Sometimes Internet searches lead you to gold. Here is my treasure of the day – The Structure of Man. This very helpful blogger shows you how to draw the human figure. Check it out.
