I watched Dan in Real Life on PPV this weekend. It was my second time to see the film. I originally viewed the film alone at the movie theater. Sadly, I couldn’t find anyone interested in seeing the movie with me. Anyhoo… to the point - Steve Carell is a genius. It’s my opinion [...]

I can’t help myself, I’m a Barack fan, and I have to let people know about this spoof. It’s all in good fun. Enjoy!
Barackula is described as short political horror rock musical about young Barack Obama staving off a secret society of vampires at Harvard after he was inducted into the presidency at the [...]

P.S. This movie stinks!
The last “big” and creative romantic comedy out of Hollywood was Something’s Gotta Give with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton, made in 2003. Come on Hollywood!
P.S. I Love You was a disappointment in numerous ways. Let me count them.
First, Holly Kennedy (Hilliary Swank) is unlikeable from the very first minutes of the [...]

This weekend I watched the movie Fur, a strange film, but strange in a magnificent way. Firstly, it’s one of the few films for which I can say, “Nicole Kidman is fabulous!” Secondly, it costars Robert Downey Jr., one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. Downey is a wonderful character actor, and what a [...]

I’m not the only person to have overlooked Stage Beauty. It was awarded Overlooked Film of the Year (2004) by the Phoenix Film Critics Society. I feel fortunate to have found this gem in the Netflix catalog.
If you liked Shakespeare in Love, there is no reason why you won’t like this film. And, if you’re [...]

I just watched the most wonderful movie about love, friendship, and family - Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont. It’s a terrible shame that such a heartwarming film has remained under the radar. I hope by telling you a little about it, you’ll feel compelled to rent or buy it.
Mrs. Palfrey (Joan Plowright) moves to London [...]

On July 4th, the movie Transformers opened in theaters nationwide. My son, if he were still little, would have loved for me to have taken him to see this movie. Now, he’ll download it via a bit torrent site, watch it alone, and never mention it. He wouldn’t want me to think he still likes [...]

The Book
84, Charing Cross Road is a collection of letters, the real life correspondence (1949-1969) between Helene Hanff, a scriptwriter living in New York City, and Frank Doel and his staff at Marks & Co, an antiquarian bookseller in London. Read the 90-something pages to learn how a love for books can create remarkable friendships. [...]
